EOP Short-Term Urban Project
Urban funding to support New Mexico School-Based Mental Health graduate students and professionals with level 1 licenses in Albuquerque, Santa Fe, and Las Cruces is back! Qualified fields of study include social work, counseling, psychology, and applied behavior analysis. Licensure Reimbursement up to $300 is also available for graduate students who have successfully obtained a license in social work, counseling, psychology, or applied behavior analysis within the past year.
Applications for the Urban EOP Academic Support, Practicum/Internship, and Licensure Reimbursement Stipends opened on March 3, 2025. Salary Enhancement Stipend Applications opened April 17th, 2025. Funding is limited and first come, first serve to qualified applicants. Applications will remain open until funding runs out or August 29, 2025 (whichever comes sooner).
EOP participants who have received rural funding and attested to work in a rural school are not eligible for urban funding.

Urban Academic Support*
Academic Support Funding Available:
Qualifying applicants can receive up to $9,000 of Academic Support! $750 per eligible course (up to four courses per semester). *Academic Support Funding is limited and first-come, first-served to qualifying applicants.
Who is Eligible?
NM graduate students who have completed at least one course in a regionally accredited behavioral health program up to one year prior to application date. *Must be currently participating in the program or graduated within the past year and show at least one successfully completed course on their transcript. These students are also required to certify that they will work in an Albuquerque, Santa Fe, or Las Cruces public, charter, or tribal school for at least 24 months after graduation as a licensed school-based mental health provider.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Enrolled in a regionally accredited behavioral health program.
- Eligible courses must be behavioral health courses that are graduate level or above and show at least three credits earned.
- Must attest to work in an Albuquerque, Santa Fe, or Las Cruces public, charter, or tribal school for at least 24 months after graduation as a licensed school-based mental health provider.
- Students may apply for eligible courses completed up to one year prior to application date.

- EOP participants must provide a copy of their full transcripts for eligibility determination. Transcripts downloaded from the university website are accepted.

Urban Internship/Practicum Stipends
Academic Support Funding Available:
Qualifying applicants can receive a $5,000 stipend for completing a school-based mental health practicum/internship in an Albuquerque, Las Cruces, or Santa Fe public, charter or tribal school. Applicants may claim a maximum of two qualifying stipends for a total of $10,000! *Practicum/Internship funding is limited and first-come, first-served to qualifying applicants.
Who is Eligible?
NM graduate students who have successfully completed at least one practicum or internship in an Albuquerque, Las Cruces, or Santa Fe public, charter, or tribal school) as part of a regionally accredited behavioral health program up to one year prior to application date. *Must be currently participating in the program or graduated within the past year. These students are also required to certify that they will work in an Albuquerque, Santa Fe, or Las Cruces public, charter, or tribal school for at least 24 months after graduation as a licensed school-based mental health provider.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Enrolled in a regionally accredited behavioral health program.
- Eligible practicum/internships must be graduate level or above and show as completed successfully on a transcript.
- Internship/Practicum must be completed in an Albuquerque, Santa Fe, or Las Cruces public, charter, or tribal school.
- Must attest to work in an Albuquerque, Santa Fe, or Las Cruces public, charter, or tribal school providing school-based mental health services to students for at least two years after graduation.
- Students may apply for eligible internships/practicums completed up to one year prior to application date.
Required Documentation:
- Applicants must provide a copy of their full transcripts for eligibility determination. Transcripts downloaded from the university website are acceptable.
- Applicants must provide proof of internship/practicum location. Examples of acceptable proof include an email from your worksite supervisor confirming your worksite location and dates, a signed, official letter from your worksite supervisor confirming your worksite location and dates, or official documentation from your university stating your worksite location and dates.

Urban Licensure Reimbursement
Applicants applying for their initial school-based mental health license can apply to receive up to $300 in licensure reimbursement once they have obtained the license. To qualify for reimbursement, applicants must provide itemized receipts for the exam fee and licensure fee, plus their new license. If the $300 cap has not been met, applicants may also include receipts for official study materials. Applicants may not claim study materials without a corresponding exam and license fee.
*Licensure reimbursement is for initial licenses only. License renewals are not eligible for reimbursement.
*Study materials must be official publications or online resources specified for the license.
Urban Salary Enhancement Stipend
Eligible applicants may apply to receive a Salary Enhancement Stipend of $2,000. *Salary Enhancement funding is limited and first come, first serve to qualifying applicants.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Eligible job titles include: Social Worker, Counselor, Psychologist, and Applied Behavior Analyst
- Currently working in an urban public, charter, or BIE school in an eligible job title. Urban schools are located in Albuquerque, Las Cruces, or Santa Fe.
- Provides direct mental health services (counseling and or therapy) to students.
- Has a Master’s Degree or higher.
- Eligible participant's NMPED License must be no higher than a Level 1 to qualify.
- Must attest to work in an EOP school providing school based mental health services to students for at least two additional years.
Required Documentation:
- Current year’s school contract showing employment through the end of this school year
- Current PED License
- Paystub dated within 30 days of the application date
*If you work in a school based mental health role, but do not have an eligible title, you may still apply if you provide direct mental health services (counseling and or therapy) to students. You will be asked to provide your job description and the amount of time you spend providing direct mental health services (counseling and or therapy) to students.
Urban Funding Requests
Important Tax Information
All funding received from this program is considered taxable income. We will need to have a completed W-9 form on file for you. If you receive a total of $600 or more, you will receive a 1099 tax form to include with your taxes.
All participants will need to fill out the online W-9 form before applying for any funding. Any approved funding will be sent to the address on your W-9. If your address changes, please notify us by email, and fill out a new W-9.

Remember, all funding requests will require you to work in an Albuquerque, Santa Fe, or Las Cruces public, charter, or tribal school as a mental health professional for at least 24 months (after graduation for students or going forward for current professionals).
